Marzia Messina Italian creative and Sham Hinchey Anglo-Italian photographer & DP are a duo who met in Rome. In 2002 they began a full-time collaboration under the name “Marshamstreet”. They work on advertising campaigns and fine art projects where focus is often centered around social issues. In 2013 they moved to NYC to pursue their professional and artistic careers.
We are fascinated by humankind in all its forms and expressions. We are avid people watchers, but also drawn to the evocative power of the urban landscape - silent and empty - where human elements are perceived only by their absence through time.
We feel a calling to forgotten places, where marginal existences flourish despite hardship. We are equally sensitive to the social themes which touch and beckon us, attracted by the communicative strength of faces and unconventional beauty, through light that reveals, amplifies, or hides.
A still or moving portrait encapsulates these elements while allowing us to come within reach of extraordinary stories and lives which enrich and shape our artistic paths, along with existence itself.
In a seemingly incompatible duo such as ours, sharing lives and artistic professions in which personal philosophies and cultural diversities collide but then somehow merge, a common language forms which sometimes sparks an artistic project.

“Photography frees us from the desire to possess, through photography we come close to ideas, people, places and objects that we are emotionally and aesthetically drawn to. Spending time and sharing energy allows us to maintain a part of the essence therefore becoming a part of us, we no longer feel the need to physically or mentally hold on”.
-Marzia and Sham
