This photographic project began following a meeting with the iconic Italian dressmaker Roberto Capucci who gave us access to his historical archive dating back to the 1950s.
All the photographs that make up each individual image were shot on photographic film and constructed according to the idea or inspiration. The absence of time, the indecipherable hour of day and period are constant and re-occurring elements.
The female figures represent a bridge between historical and modern ages. In some of the works the inspiration is from classical art mixed with contemporary pieces.
We collaborated with contemporary Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro to create “Danae”, this mythological figure gazes towards “Novecento”- bronze sculpture by the artist.
In “The Queen of Sheba” we collaborated with Italian designer and architect Michele De Lucchi photographing his “Casette”.
The women are the narrators, they guide us through surreal landscapes which on close inspection reveal messages of our time. Some works show the contradiction of progress, highlighting an account of past events or future premonitions.
